This is such an odd meme, but so neat in concept that I just have to try it. Snagged from numerous people:

Give me the title of a story I've never written, and feedback telling me what you liked best about it, and I will tell you any of: the first sentence, the last sentence, the thing that made me want to write it, the biggest problem I had while writing it, why it almost never got posted, the scene that hit the cutting room floor but that I wish I'd been able to salvage, or something else that I want readers to know.

I also just got myself a bunch of DCU icons. *squee* Old fandom love. Post about the first fics I  read back in 2000 to come tomorrow.

What about Twenty-Nine Hands? I just loved the symbolism of the desert scenes.

Here's my response - Junction.

Thanks so much for playing. This particular request was a lot of fun to write about because I did start to plot a story exactly like the one I briefly describe. It makes me want to write it. Darn.

I adored the parallel descriptions that showcased the differences between the main characters in Elevator Down. Classic.

Here you go! It was fun thinking about this one because, honestly, the mention of elevaor made me think of Lindsey, lol. I was like, "No! Must resist! Would not write Lindsey fic..." but he did get a nod in the response, so, uh... yay?

Ooh, I want to hear about the Faith/Giles fic. You know the one - Cat o' Nine Tails, which I almost didn't read because I was sure it'd be BDSM but which instead had all that yummy hurty post-series h/c.

Hey there! Response to your reqests here.

BTW, I mention Jenny in the response and she's actually an important part of the unfinished S3 Faith/Giles fic. I always thought it was a shame that there wasn't more exploration of how fucked up Jenny's death is for Giles, and that fic goes into it quite a bit. Tots h/f all the way, with a damaged and floundering F/G.

Yay! I was just reading.

So, is there any chance of seeing this unfinished fic sometime in the future? You're whetting my appetite here. :)

Hm. I've got seasonal_spuffy and IWRY, so I don't see myself working on it for a few months, but if you're interested in reading what I'd managed to get down, I'd be happy to send you what I have.

One issue that I had was I worked on it piecemeal, so I switched tenses and that's a bit of a mess. Would have to unify that. And I wavered back and forth about if I wanted them to hook up in some way or just have implied intimacy. I wouldn't be averse to your opinion of what I have so far. It might help to have fresh eyes look at it and give me the fire under my ass to finish it.

There are a number of fics I have that are nearish to completion that have been sitting about in Word for almost two years. Wish it weren't so. Blah.

Sure, send it my way. My email's in my profile. I'd be happy to tell you what I think.

Yay for seasonal_spuffy! I dithered about signing up and finally decided against it - what with the WIP and the new job, I just didn't dare commit. Instead I'm putting together the index again this session, which requires much less creativity. *g*

Cool! Just fair warning, this isn't even something I'd send to my beta. It's like a fleshed out, unfinished draft, so... that's my disclaimer.

As for SS, I'm already regretting signing up. I haven't done any work on it yet, and I think what I have in mind is really just too complicated for me to write in under a month. I just was riding the high off of WriterCon and wanted to be back and involved in fannish stuff, but it probably was a dumb choice. I should really learn to follow my initial instincts. And I'd feel like bad for backing out (though there are plenty of people) because last time I signed up two years ago I didn't make my deadline. *ends useless bitching*

Disclaimer duly noted. :)

FWIW, SS has a free-for-all day at the end now, so you might, for example, write half your fic for your day and finish the other half for the final day. Or something. It gives a bit more wiggle room.
