This past week was another busy 5 days at work, but it was also littered with numerous post-work outings that included, dinner, drinks and scheming for this Friday's scavenger hunt. On Thursday evening, I saw Rachel Getting Married. I didn't know much about it going in, but was pleasantly surprised. It was ridiculously angsty, sometimes overwhelmingly so, but made for a compelling 2 hours. Anne Hathaway gave an outstanding performance as a recovering drug-addict trying to wade through the murky relationships that she finds herself in with her various family members, who are all gathered at their home in Connecticut for her sisters wedding. I would definately recommend it, but only if you're up for a tearjerker. The music in the film was also amazing and overall it sported some rather unusual pacing, but nothing jarring. I found it refreshing.

On Saturday, I went to Central Park's annual Pumpkin Festival and tromped around with Gus taking in the sites. My main motivation was the food vendors and I wasn't disappointed. I bought pumpkin cookies and blueberry/apple pie home. There are lots of lovely pictures, which I'll post later tonight. I also relaxed and saw Raging Bull for the first time. I know it's a classic, but I was not a fan. Too little plot, too much cursing, too much domestic abuse. Poo on you, Scorsesi.

Yesterday I spent a few hours working on my iwry_marathon</lj> entry. I've got all the plot points down, so I've gone back and am going through the fic chronologically filling in scenes. I'm having some difficulty with pacing and general flowiness of the prose, but I still have a little under a month to smooth all it out, so I'm not worrying yet. It still seems like quite an undertaking for me - tackeling a day and a half of story scene by scene. I also have to weight if less is more in this case. How in-depth do I want to go? How tight are the POVs going to be? Currently I'm very Buffy-focused, but I think Angel needs a say too.

I've also got some betaing to do for only_passenger</lj>, who is dusting off the next chapter of one of her WIPs. And eowyn_315</lj> and I had a great brainstorming session last night about a possible story she might start. I love sharing in the creative process, so that was cause for excitement. It's a great concept and I can't wait to see if it goes anywhere.

For those that don't know, indigo_crypt</lj> is taking award nominations until November 12th. There is still room and they especially need SPUFFY nominations. I know a lot of you read Spuffy, so go contribute to fandom and nominate a great story. There must be some good fics that were generated through seasonal_spuffy</lj> , right?

I also have an awesome fic rec courtesy of Pass. Check out As Dark Things Are Loved by redbrickrose</lj> . It's a stunningly beautiful Angel/Nina, Angel/Buffy post-NFA one-shot. The characterization is spot on, but most impressive is the careful crafting of the story, so that all the points come full circle.

Wow, you've got so much stuff going on, what with the work and the fics and all. Sounds like you're enjoying yourself, though, which is so totally of the good. If somebody asked me I'd probably say that I'm not exactly a great fan of living on a hectic schedule, but then again most of the best periods of my life have been, like, super-hectic. I guess it's all about finding the right proportion between the hectic and the not so hectic times.

Pumpkin Festival sounds like so much fun. I wish we had events like that around here, too. *pouts*

Good luck with your writing! I'm sure you'll come up with something absolutely amazing. After all, I've never seen you do otherwise. ;)

Yes, things have been busy. It hasn't left much time for fandom activities. I often don't get home until 9PM and then I don't want to do anything at all. But the hectic really has to do with my nightlife activities. And if things get overwhelming, I can just stop going out. Totally in my control!

The Pumpkin Festival was okay. Not as cool as I thought since it was really geared toward children. It was also raining and incredibly windy. We only stayed for an hour. Still... cookies!

Good luck with your writing!
Thanks. I'm a little nervous about it though. The fic is so long and I just haven't had the time to dedicate to it. I might have to overhaul it and make it more the length I'm used to. I estimate it'll be 8000+ and that's loooong for me.

My comment is completely random, but I DON'T THINK I CAN TAKE (and post) THE BTVS PIC *cries*

My hair refuses to get straightened (for Tara) and I'm too chubby for Glory (who's the only one who matches my hair).

Yes, I have profound thoughts troubling me. Hm...

Oh, come on! How much do I look like Spike? Not very! I didn't even have the right hair color :D Pleeeease, give it a try? I don't think anyone else is participating... *sniffle*

Awww, come ooooon, no sniffling!

Gah, I'll try it this weekend.

More randomness: I did the pic thingy... it's here.

I suck methinks, but it was fun after all and I'm trying to get my f-list to do it too!
