I didn't come all this way just to get knocked up by some demon dust
I was going through my closet today and it turns out that Buffy's outfit from "Get it Done" somehow got in there!

Bless NYC brick walls with harsh lighting. The one on the staircase is in my hallway and the ones outside are directly across the street from my building.

Btw, I didn't have any stakes handy, so that's a wooden lemon reamer I'm using. Hee!

You look just like her!
ClawofCat: knowing faceclawofcat on October 5th, 2008 03:36 pm (UTC)
Funny, isn't it? This just goes to show what an outfit and good lighting will do because you and I both know I look nothing like SMG!

Well, that's not quite true; you look more like her than you look like, oh, say, Penelope Cruz. You're both nice Jewish girls with round cheeks. ;)

I think the reamer is perfect for my alter ego Slutty the VampireLayer. I already had Buffy molest Spike with a stake in one fic. Just imagine all the creative things she could do with a lemon reamer and a few choice kitchen utensils!

Ah. *happy sigh* I love feelin' extra pervy.
hello_spikeyhello_spikey on October 5th, 2008 03:51 am (UTC)
woah. Total Buffage! I see the requisite "reamer" joke has already been made so I'll just say "Lookin' slayalicious!"
ClawofCat: giddyclawofcat on October 5th, 2008 06:00 pm (UTC)
Imagine my surprise when I was looking through my closet and came across that hideous skirt. The "Get it Done" ensemble is so memorable because it's way crack. Who would really wear all those pieces of clothing together?

My parents were highly entertained and very happy to help "Buffify" me. Good thing my face was in shadow to help with the illusion, cause I really don't look like SMG.
Owenowenthurman on October 5th, 2008 04:15 am (UTC)
Wow. I can't believe I spent time trying to figure out which one was SMG and which one was clawofcat.

That is just awesome.

And you're going to be glad of having lemon tools when the vampires come. I'm going to have to break my few pieces of nice hardwood furniture. Waferboard just isn't going to cut it. It'll be thanks to Ikea if the vampires win.
ClawofCat: good timesclawofcat on October 5th, 2008 06:04 pm (UTC)
Heh. I'm glad I could provide some entertainment and confusion! I really don't look very much like SMG, but the clothing, hair and lighting do a lot to help with the illusion. I can definately see how someone could think the first pic is a promo shot or screencap.

It'll be thanks to Ikea if the vampires win.
LOL. Down with cheap, Swiss furniture! I have to admit that it went a long way in furnishing my dorm room though.

Oh, wow. What a perfect icon, down to the raised stake and that look of determination! I don't really look that much like SMG, but comparing your icon to my pics definately makes me see how so many people think I do.

Feel free to rec this post, if you'd like. I've been thinking about asking my flist if they resemble any of the characters enough to dress like them. I wanna see other people do it!

Will indeed add that question to my pimp list. Btw, the icon is the work of earth_vexer.

I see someone's warming up for Halloween! *thumbs up*
ClawofCat: smugclawofcat on October 5th, 2008 06:13 pm (UTC)
*snorfle* I love dressing up for Halloween, but I've made no plans for this year. When I was in middle school, the year that S2 aired I asked a very tall, brunette friend of mine to dress as Angel to my Buffy. We never ended up doing it, but I wish we had!

In my closet, I also found this long, black leather duster. I was thinking about dressing as Spike, but it's a much harder sell. I at least somewhat resemble Buffy, but Spike? No way!

hee! Just slick your hair back, paint in your eyebrows, use oodles of shadow in the hollows of your cheeks and prance around with tons of attitude :D
Sotiassddgr on October 5th, 2008 10:33 am (UTC)
OMG! You're her! *is slack-jawed*
ClawofCat: buffy pensiveclawofcat on October 5th, 2008 06:17 pm (UTC)
Hee! Pretty good likeness in those photos, no? The outfit did a lot of the work for me, as well as the pulled back hair. It didn't hurt to be in shadow either. If the lighting had been good, it'd be fairly obvious that I don't look much like SMG. *iz sneaky*

Maybe I'll try and compile a few other Buffy outfits. The photoshoot was fun!
Tam: JD toto stilltamakin on October 5th, 2008 01:17 pm (UTC)
Zomg dude! That second pic of you coming up the stairs? I SERIOUSLY thought it was a cap from buffy! lol! Very cool :)
ClawofCat: yayclawofcat on October 5th, 2008 06:21 pm (UTC)
I fooled you! *pumps fist* I definately had some good, atmospheric scenery to help me with the Buffy vibe. Can I also just say that brandishing a lemon reamer is awkward as hell?

Maybe I'll dig around and see if I can come up with any other Buffy outfits. I'm clearing old clothes out now that college is over. It's been fun stumbling over stuff I wore 7 years ago!

They look awesome, just wow! I thought it was Buffy before I enlarged them. You're occasionally doing cosplay at cons I hope?
ClawofCat: having funclawofcat on October 5th, 2008 06:27 pm (UTC)
Thank you :D I'm really surprised (but pleased!) how many people think I look like her. When I'm just regular old CoC, I doubt anyone would make the connection.

You're occasionally doing cosplay at cons I hope?
I haven't been to a con is yeeeears! I used to go a lot in high school when I was majorly into comic books, but even then I didn't dress up as a character. I'd be so out of my element at a Sci-Fi convention now!

What fun to see!! The outfit, the shadows, the pose, the lemon reamer[?] and you.
Love the credits. So professional.

Haha! I'm glad you enjoyed it. It was so much fun running around trying to get all the pieces of the outfit together. My dad finally asked What are you doing? after I bounced in and out of the room several times. He let out a big guffaw when I played "Get it Done." My 'rents have always been very supportive of my interestes, Buffy and otherwise :D

Also, lemon reamers! It was either the juicer or chopsticks. I had to pick one.

Maybe I'll try and put together a few more Buffy outfits since people seemed to enjoy this post so much.

Bwahahaa! Wow, you're a ringer. With a reamer! *dies* That's just so you in terms of weapon selection. :D

P.S. You're adorable.

Hee! I'm glad I could provide some entertainment. Gotta keep things light and funny around this place occasionally.

*snorts* Isn't it? I was rifeling around in my kitchen trying to find something that would be work. The reamer seemed to be the only option! That or chopsticks and what self-respecting Slayer uses take-out chopsticks?

P.S. You're adorable.
I try :) Maybe I'll try Spike next. I do have a leather duster and a zippo lighter!

ZOMG you're HER!!

Maybe if you're holding a spatula it will make Spike come in looking for his lighter.. ^_^
ClawofCat: sexual tensionclawofcat on October 7th, 2008 12:16 am (UTC)
Heh. Yes, it's my super secret identity. I am, in fact, SMG.

Hm... *strokes chin* That gives me an idea.

Omg, how awesome these are! You look so much like her! At first glance I could've sworn they were pictures of Buffy/SMG – especially so with the second one. And the credits simply rock! *loves*

Unfortunately, I don't think I have the wardrobe or the looks to pass as any of the BtVS characters no matter the picture angle or lighting. I do have some clothes dating back to my hc-goth days that might pass as Vampire!Willow's, lol, but I don't really look like her at all, what with me being kinda tall, blond, short-haired and somewhat heavily tattooed.

What a cool idea this whole dress-up thing is, though! I'm really looking forward to seeing what people will come up with! :)
ClawofCat: faithsmileclawofcat on October 8th, 2008 05:02 pm (UTC)
Hee! I'm glad you enjoyed them. I was hoping people would. I share enough of SMGs features - fair skin, long, dark blonde hair - to pull it off alright. I'm about 5 inches taller than her though ;)

What a cool idea this whole dress-up thing is, though! I'm really looking forward to seeing what people will come up with!
Thanks! I hope at least a few people participate. Should be fun.

I'll probably try to do another photoshoot this weekend. I have all the outfit pieces for Spike, so I might give him a go. I'm just not sure what to do about my hair. Obviously, I'd need to pull it back and it's much too dark to be bleached blonde. I guess everyone will have to suspend belief on that one ;) I also have a very round, fem face. Won't find one sharp angle on me. I'm going to have to do some serious make-up and cheek shading to get even close. I guess the key is low lighting! Spike does like shadows anyway.
