Rogue Poet Awards
Rogue Poet Awards posted their winners tonight and I'm pleased to announce that I snagged a few awards for Acts of Contrition, a fic that I personally love a great deal. Thanks to the judges and graphic artists for all their hard work. You ladies consistantly run one of the best award sites out there.

Special shout-outs to eowyn_315 , snowpuppies , ash_carpenter , girlpire , slaymesoftly , and athenewolfe  for their outstanding wins. It's always exciting to see authors that you beta for or who have written stories for you winning awards. There was some very tight competition this round.

And, of course, I can't forget my cheerleaders, who I always like to acknowledge when I can. Congrats to my girls dragonflylady77 , ellan_vannin , framedinlove  and tibialisant . *hugs*

In other news, about an hour ago, while watching Desperate Housewives, my mom shouted from the living room: "Is this the guy that played Caleb?" When I jogged in I stopped dead in my tracks and cried out, "It's Brian!!"

Mom: "Brian who?"
Me: "Brian from Queer as Folk!"
Mom: "Which one was he?"
Me: "The really hot one who fucked everybody."
Mom: "Oh. I guess they brought him on as the hot guy to fuck Terry Hatcher then."

Hee. I watched seasons 1-2 of QaF and loved it, but haven't really kept up with the cast or (more specifically) Gale Harold after the show ended. Raise your hands if you'd like to see a Brian/Spike fic! If any of you know of some good ones, link me!

*sigh* I'm so sorry we didn't get to meet while I was in Texas. I can just imagine getting into so much trouble with you *cuddles*

Me, too.

You do seem a bit of trouble, though. :P

chase820 has an epic Brian/Spike WIP which is theoretically still in progress, though of late she's run off to write Harry/Draco. The premise is that Brian moved to LA in AtS season 5, and is working for Wolfram & Hart. She's more or less left BtVS fandom, so I don't know when or if she'll get around to finishing it. Still, what she's got is well worth reading.

Awesome! Thanks for the rec, Barb. Will check it out when I get the chance. Damn those HP boys for taking our writers away from us! *shakes fist*

Congratulations, very pretty awards.

Thanks. I particularly liked the award plaques for Best Gen and Best Het. Like FFA, the graphics always include the characters or pairing featured in the story.

*high five* I gotta write another one like "Contrition." That piece had such a lovely mood to it.

Yay for you! And well deserved. Hope this also feeds your muse for stories yet to come! Am really enjoying your solicited challenge responses!

Ha! I love that squeeing Glory icon.

Awards are always a nice pat on the back, but they don't do too much in terms of inspiring creativity. Good thing I don't need it at the moment! I was working on one of the challenges this morning on the train and about three pages in I was like, "Wait! No. I have a better idea. Much much better!" and started on something completely different.

These have been so good because I can just write whatever, no pressure. Doing something very specific can be fun at times, too, but these really broad themes make it okay for me to keep changing my mind. I'm not wholeheartedly committed to one idea, which means I'm not killing myself to get it exactly how I want it. In that sense, I feel like I'm really getting to work through ideas, discard some and keep others. It's very freeing.

I'm thrilled that you're enjoying them because they're coming from a very good, positive place. I can't say that about everything I've written. *hugs*

Congratulations! Well-deserved, that's a great fic.

Thank you. I feel a lot of affection for the story. It just appeared and was ready to post in two days. I wish they could all be that easy.

Yay, this is so awesome! Acts of Contrition must be one of the most beautiful Spuffy pieces I've ever read. I had a printed out version of it with me in the hospital, and I remember reading it and then sitting in silence for a long while just listening to my own heart beat and smiling through the tears.

My heartiest congratulations to you! All of these acknowledgments are more than well-deserved. *hugs*

And I even got my own pretty! Yayness squared! :D I honestly can't think of an award that I'd be more proud of receiving.

Aw, thank you. It is very beautiful. Things just came together really well for me on that story. It's so atmospheric. I'd definately rank in it in my top 4, with Beneath Us, By A Thread,, and Ch. 2 of All Wrong close behind it.

This makes me feel... I don't know. Grateful? To hear that my work can be so affecting and personal. It is a story about hope and healing emotional and physical wounds. I can see how it would have been a compelling read in the hospital. *hugs*

Congratulations honey!!

Also, OMG your mum can recognise Nathan Fillion!
I've only ever seen the UK version of QAF (and loved it) so I'm going to google this guy.. ^_^
