College trumps fanfic: the continuing saga
Shit, I'm fucked. I have a week until my posting date for seasonal_spuffy and my shot is not freakin' done. I also have two midterm papers due the day after my posting date. I hate you RL.

Spike has also been rather silent. What can I do to wake him up? He needs to be able to console Buffy and impart sage advice, but the words just won't come.  Is there a doctor in the house?

Oh dear, it's very unlike Spike to keep quiet. I fear he must be quite unwell. Have you plied him with strong drink? That usually works.

Hee, you'd think a drink or the promise of a shag would get a rise out of him, but he's being stubborn.

Because I can't really think of what he'd say, I've actually written his silence into the story. I'm not sure if that's a good thing. This fic is also not in my usual style. It's almost like a POV, except still narrated in third, and I can't seem to decide whether I want it in present or past tense. I keep switching every few paragraphs. It's also a lot of Buffy's internal thoughts and observations, which generally are less articulated than what Spike might see.

*huff* Damn them both. This means I'm going to have to do something super angsty and dreadful to them as punishment in the next Spuffy fic I do. I am the writer, damnit! I have the power!

That's the spirit!

I'm right there with you--my fanfic muse is AWOL.
I can only suggest watching a couple of Spike eps, to get his voice fresh again in your head.
Good luck.

It's come to the point where I've actually written Spike's silence into the fic. It's not too out of place given the somber occasion Buffy and Spike are commemorating, but it seems so very un-Spike like. Him being quiet, introspective, respectful. It's sort of from Buffy's POV as well. Maybe I can have her do most of the talking and have him listen?

Sure, why not? The important thing is to keep writing.

How are you doing, btw? I've not been on LJ much lately.

Today I've been calling religion professors and trying to get in touch with Bill Moyers for an article I've got due tomorrow. I've got class at 2, and when I get back I get to interview the chair of the search committee at Riverside Church. They're in need of a new senior minister. I've also been reading about rape and genocide. Fun.

You are so busy, as usual!
I'm OK.
Working on a vaccine account, while also reading my friendslist and trying to write the next scene of THE PROPER SLAYER, all at the same time ....

i'm sorry i had to cut it short so abruptly on the phone the other night, and just when we were getting to this. since kat picked up the third job a couple weeks ago, i hardly see her (we have opposite schedules but had the same days off, and now she works on those days too) and she's my person and i miss her terribly.

if you want any pass-feedback on it before you post, please don't hesitate to send it my way.
